The Qualitative Stone Analysis of Gallstone Patient





Abstract
Gallstone is a common problem in biliary tract disease. It is well known facts that the compositions of all stones are not only different from each other in different geographic areas, but also depend on dietary and living habits. The gallstone analysis is an important for understanding the cause of gallstone formation and treatment of this disease. The 45 cases of stone were collected from the patients operated on with cholecystectomy and chole-docholithotomy for symptomatic gallstone disease at surgical department of Cho-Sun Univer-sity from May, 1980 and analyzed by means of routine qualitative stone analysis.
1) The prevalence rate of gallstone was more predominant in female more than in male as 1:2.5.
2) The age of peak incidence was between 5th and 6th Decades, 28 cases (62.2%).
3) The composition of gallstone mainly composed of cholesterol, bilirubin, and calcium:
pure cholesterol stone is 5 cases (11.1%), pigmented stone 31 cases (68.9%), and mixed stone 9 cases (20.0%).
